Finnegans Wake. Testo inglese a fronte. Vol. 3-4: III-IV: "Libro della notte", prosecuzione del viaggio nell'animo umano iniziato con quel "libro del giorno" che è l'Ulisse, Finnegans Wake è una «suprema sintesi verbale del Creato» costruita attingendo a più di quaranta lingue. La sua traduzione è dunque una ininterrotta sfida, che questo sesto volume porta all'infinita fine, smentendone la presunta "intraducibilità". Negli ultimi capitoli il gigante Haun-Yawn è sottoposto a interrogatorio da Quattro inquisitori; rispondendo con molteplici voci si trasforma in HCE, padre universale ma anche voce ancestrale della storia d'Irlanda. Alle prime luci dell'alba ALP, il fiume di Dublino Anna Liffey, e moglie di HCE, lascia il suo letto per andare a morire nel padre-mare: la sua morte apparente è preludio di una rinascita che porta in sé il germe della resurrezione e dell'insurrezione. "Book of the Night", continuation of the journey into the human soul begun with that "Book of the Day" that is Ulysses, Finnegans Wake is a "supreme verbal synthesis of creation" built by drawing on more than forty languages. His translation is therefore an uninterrupted challenge, that this sixth volume leads to the infinite end, denying the alleged "untranslatability". In the last chapters, the giant Haun-Yawn is subjected to questioning by four inquisitors; Answering with multiple voices turns into HCE, universal father but also ancestral voice of the history of Ireland. At the first light of Dawn ALP, the River of Dublin Anna Liffey, and wife of HCE, leaves her bed to go to die in the father-Sea: its apparent death is prelude to a rebirth that carries in itself the germ of the resurrection and the insurrection.
